Derwent 2
About the Derwent 2:
Ruston 0-4-0 Diesel shunter. This loco is currently undergoing restoration and, as you can see from the photos, has a newly installed Donkey Engine.
Technical Specs:
Diesel Electric; the diesel engine is connected to a DC traction motor – all power to the wheels is transmitted by electrics. The diesel engine is a Rustin 6VPH rated at 165BHP at 1250rpm. Maximum tractive effort is 17000 lbs. Maximum design speed 20mph. 28 tons overall weight. The traction motor can be easily disconnected so it can be towed.
History:
Built by Rustin Hornsby in 19?? in Lincoln, for Whessoe Engineering and used in their shunting yard until donated to us in 19?? Electrics provided by British Thomson-Houston.
